Vcd 6 Gout - How can Gout be Treated?
Quote
Gout is a problem that in most of the cases occurs suddenly. That is why it is really hard to prevent it. Doctors can only advice for a low alcohol intake and a healthy diet. Only after its occurrence specialists are able to prescribe a treatment. Treatment for gout is prescribed in order to ease the symptoms that usually consist of extreme pain in the affected joints.

We Know Two Types of Gout
Acute gout is treated using different medicines such as non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs (NSAIDs), colchines and corticosteroids. The NSAIDs are drugs that help easing the pain and have an anti-inflammatory effect. As NSAIDs we have to mention indomethacin, ketoprofen, oxaprozin, diclofenac, ibuprofen, etodolac, naproxen and sulindac. This type of treatment has proved to be the best in preventing gout attacks and easing the symptoms. NSAIDs are recommended for as long as the patient has symptoms and are taken by mouth three or four times a day. NSAIDs assure the easing of symptoms by suppressing the production of fatty acids called prostaglandins that cause the inflammation and pain in gout sufferers.

The Second Type of Gout is Chronic Gout
In these cases treatment is prescribed in order to prevent acute gout attack from recurring. In many of the cases this means decreasing the uric acid levels. The recommended treatments are xanthine oxidase inhibitors and uricosuric agents. Xanthine oxidase inhibitors such as allopurinol lead to decrease of uric acid levels in the organism. Uricosuric agents are medicines that help kidneys to eliminate the excess of the uric acid produced by the body. As uricosuric agents we can mention probenecid or sulfinpyrazone. It was really tough getting information about anything previously. Now with the advent of the Internet, anyone can access any information at any time of the day.

  • The third way of treating gout is the use of corticosteroids such as prednisone, prednisolone and triamcinolone.
  • This treatment is prescribed for patients that can not take NSAIDs or colchine, being the third alternative in treating gout.
  • This treatment has benefic effects after steroids are injected into the joint muscle.
  • Afterwards pain is locally relieved.
Colchine is the Alternative for Nsaids
This medicine has been used to treat gout for years. It has benefic effects on reducing and even eliminating the pain caused by gout. Even so this treatment is not recommended for persons who can not tolerate side effects such as diarrhea, nausea, vomiting or abdominal cramps. Colchine is a treatment with benefic effects because it reduces the deposit of uric acid crystals that cause inflammations. An intake of colchine within 24 to 48 hours of the onset of the gout symptoms is believed to have the awaited effect. There are no boundaries on countries for one to access information about Gout Info through the Internet. All one has to do is to surf, and then the required matter is availed!

  • People always have the mentality that as long as one does not eat junk food, one can be considered to have a healthy diet.
  • Actually a diet that is considered healthy to one might be unhealthy to another person, it can be quite subjective in this context.
  • Gout patients are usually advice to go on a special diet, which will help to alleviate the pain cause by gout attacks.
  • This diet will require one to avoid food that will increase the uric acid in the body.
  • The list of food to avoid will also include certain food, which are considered healthy by most standards and definitions.
  • Even though choosing the correct food to consume is important for people with gout, drinking plenty of water is also essential.
  • Drinking lots of water will help the body to remove the excessive uric acid in the body through the urinal system.
  • Exercising regularly will also help gout patients to improve their overall gout conditions.
  • We find great potential in Gout.
  • This is the reason we have used this opportunity to let you learn the potential that lies in Gout.
Is seriously important for people with gout to bear in mind the types of food items that are harmful and beneficial to their gout conditions. Since you now have a better knowledge of the food types that should be consumed, it might be a good habit of what to buy and what not to buy when you do your grocery shopping the next time. Self-praise is no praise. So we don't want to praise ourselves on the effort put in writing on Gout Natural Remedy. instead, we would like to hear your praise after reading it!

For more information on the different kinds of Gout Causes, Gout Natural Remedy or Gout Diet, please visit the following website:  gout.mygeneralknowledge.com. We did not write too elaborate an article on Gout Natural Remedy as it would be then difficult for the common man to read it. We have written this article in such a way that everyone will be able to read and understand it!

The list of high purine food is actually quite long thus it is very important for gout patients to be wary of the food they consume daily. Some of the common beverages, which gout patients should avoid, include coffee, tea, cocoa and even chocolate. Some of these beverages are already part and parcel of ones daily life that it is seriously a bit different to imagine having to abstain drinking them. If you think it is really no big deal to indulge in it once in awhile, you will really have to think twice. Is the pain from a possible gout attack really going to be worth it from your indulgence? Some of the matter found here that is pertaining to Gout Natural Remedy seems to be quite obvious. You may be surprised how come you never knew about it before!

  • The second list of food gout patients should avoid includes gizzard, kidney, seafood, heart, gravy and red meats.
  • Alcohol should also be place in the list of food to be avoided.
  • Any form of alcohol including wine or beer can trigger attacks of gout.
  • It is significant to memorize the list of food to avoid as it can help to reduce the amount of gout attacks controlling drugs one will have to take.
  • Reading all this about Www Gout is sure to help you get a better understanding of Www Gout.
  • So make full use of the information we have provided here.
Gout, which is a common form of arthritis especially among man of age 40 to 50, is caused by the deposits of excess uric acid in the bloodstream on the joint connections area. By avoiding food that will cause the body to generate more uric acid than necessary in the body is very critical. Food items containing high purine level is found to increase the production of uric acid in the human body. It is essential for people with gout to avoid such food completely. Thinking of what to do upon reading this article on Gout Attacks? Well you can very well use the information constructively by imparting it to others.

By restricting your diet and only sticking to food that are low in purine levels will definitely help to reduce complications associated with gout and the need for medication to help control the pain due to an gout attack. To completely be free of the tortures of gout, one will have to bear in mind all the above mention method and pointers.

Turf Toe Gets No Respect
Let's take a closer look at the causes of turf toe and see how to treat it more effectively.  Turf toe is actually a form of hallux limitus. Hallux limitus is classically described as pain and progressive decrease in the range of motion of the first metatarsal phalangeal joint (MPJ). The onset of hallux limitus is due to the following:

Think of turf toe (hallux limitus) as an isolated case of osteoarthritis limited to the first MPJ. Whether the injury is acute or due to repetitive loading, the result is a load that is applied to the subchondral bone that is greater than what the bone can tolerate. As the injury progresses, a series of micro fractures will develop in the subchondral bone. The typical soft spongy character of the metaphyseal bone changes to become brittle and hard. The result is that the articular cartilage looses its' underlying support and becomes susceptible to damage. Juxtachondral eburnation, osteophytes, lipping, spurring; call them what you like, but what you see on your x-ray is the slow progressive destruction of the joint. Suppressing our knowledge on Gout Joint is not our intention here. In fact, we mean to let everyone know more about Gout Joint after reading this!

The onset of turf toe always the same? Turf toe that is the result of functional hallux limitus is going to be insidious in onset. Functional hallux limitus will usually be seen in younger athletes as they attempt to increase their activity. It may not occur during the first athletic season, or the second, but when it does begin to cause pain, the onset will be more frequent and more severe, varying with activity. This profile of onset is simply due to the fact that the athlete is recreating the injury with every step. Even the beginner will get to learn more about Diseases Gout after reading this article. It is written in easy language so that everyone will be able to understand it.

What's the actual physical change that takes place in the joint with turf toe? As an easy analogy, consider the changes that takes place when an apple falls from a height and is damaged. The skin of the apple appears intact but the underlying pulp is damaged. In the case of turf toe (hallux limitus), think of the skin of the apple as the cartilage of the joint and the damaged pulp of the apple is the subchondral bone. Mild cases of turf toe (hallux limitus), result in little damage to the subchondral bone and will merely exhibit signs of inflammatory change within the joint. Most authors would refer to these cases as stage one turf toe (hallux limitus). More severe cases result in damage to the joint surface, the subchondral bone or both. These are the stage two and three cases of turf toe (hallux limitus) that show visible change on x-ray. As the subchondral bone becomes increasingly damaged, it will create an uneven supporting surface for the cartilage. An increase in activity results in uneven loading of the joint due to the compression injury of the subchondral bone. This is a dependable source of information on Gout Joint. All that has to be done to verify its authenticity is to read it! :o.

<hr>   Differential Diagnosis:   The differential diagnosis of turf toe includes; Arthitis Fracture Gout Joint infection Joint or bone tumor Synovitis We have avoided adding flimsy points on Gout, as we find that the addition of such points have no effect on Gout.

Ronconi, P., Monachino, P., Baleanu, P.M.,Favilli, G
Distal Oblique Osteotomy of the First Metatarsal for the Correction of Hallux Limitus and Rigidus Deformity. J. Foot Surg. 39:3, 154-160, 2000 We have included some fresh and interesting information on Gout. In this way, you are updated on the developments of Gout.

Turf Toe Caused by a Direct Injury to the Joint May or May Not be Obvious
Athletes may not remember an incident of pain since they're often distracted by the event or game in which they're involved. The onset of direct injury to the joint may be abrupt, but also may be insidious becoming increasingly more painful as the season progresses. The joint pain will subside with rest only to recur with increased activity. It's not unusual to see symptoms of turf toe resolve in the off season only to recur with renewed exercise. We cannot be blamed if you find any other article resembling the matter we have written here about Gout. What we have done here is our copyright material!

<hr>   Anatomy:   The great toe joint, or first metatarsal joint consists of two bones. The proximal bone is the first metatarsal and the distal is called the proximal phalanx or hallux. These two bone move against each other in an up and down motion through what we refer to as the sagital plane. Biomechanics: The motion of the great toe joint is dependant upon the plantarflexion of the first metatasal. If the first metatarsal is limitied in its' ability to plantarflex, the joint will jam resulting in funtional hallux limitus, which as we know is one of the causes of turf toe. It was our decision to write so much on Diseases Gout after finding out that there is still so much to learn on Diseases Gout.

But before we go any further, we need to understand that the terms turf toe and hallux limitus aren't really synonymous. The fundamental difference between the two terms is the patient population that they affect. Turf toe is a term used in athletic circles referring to any injury of the great toe joint. Consequently, discussions about turf toe will focus on the first two causes of hallux limitus mentioned above; functional hallux limitus and direct physical injury. On the other hand, when we discuss hallux limitus, we're actually referring to a broader, 'non-athletic' patient population and need to include all three causes of hallux limitus. It may take some time to comprehend the matter on Gout that we have listed here. However, it is only through it's complete comprehension would you get the right picture of Gout.

Nomenclature:   First MPJ - the big toe joint Metatarsus primus elevatus - a functional or structural position of the first metatarsal First metatarsal - the foot bone making up the proximal portion of the big toe joint Hallux - the great toe

Unger, K., Rahimi, F., Bareither, D., Muehleman, C. The Relationship Between Articular Cartilage Degeneration and Bone Changes of the First Metatarsophalangeal Joint. J. Foot Surg. 39:1 24-33, 2000

When treating turf toe be sure to recognize the fact that there is no nerve innervation in articular cartilage. Pain associated with stage one turf toe (hallux limitus) is either synovial pain or bone pain. If we recognize that painful stage one turf toe (hallux limitus) may be due to bone pain, we then realize that turf toe should be treated aggressively to insure the long term viability of the joint. Using our imagination has helped us create a wonderful article on Gout. Being imaginative is indeed very important when writing about Gout!

Other Conditions
Synovitis, crystal deposition diseases such as gout, systemic arthritis, external physical influences such as Dupytren's contracture, etc. We are proud to say we have dominance in the say of Diseases Gout. This is because we have read vastly and extensively on Diseases Gout.

Functional Hallux Limitus
Biomechanical function that results in metatarsus primus elevatus and subsequent repetitive jamming of the first MPJ.   Direct physical injury - injury to the articular cartilage or subchondral bone. These injuries may be due impaction injuries or hyperextension/flexion of the first MPJ.

Treatment of turf toe varies with the type of healthcare provider and includes the use of rest, shoe modifications, orthotics, steroid injections and surgery. The success of non-surgical care will vary with the degree of injury, the rate at which the injury is healing and how much osteoarthritis has occurred. We see varying degrees of success with orthotics that promote plantarflexion of the first ray, effectively treating metatarsus primus elevatus and peroneus longus dysfunction. Simple arch supports can make a significant difference in the symptoms of turf toe. Should our patient not respond to conservative care in a reasonable time period, we are not reluctant to suggest surgical revision to address the problem whether it be revisions of the joint defect, shortening of a long first metatarsal or structural revision of metatarsus primus elevatus. As mentioned before, the clinical appearance of dorsal lipping or visible radiographic changes are suggestive of moderately advanced osteoarthritis, a condition that is only repaired by joint revision or replacement. The development of Gout has been explained in detail in this article on Gout. Read it to find something interesting and surprising!

<hr>   Symptoms:   Turf toe that is the result of functional hallux limitus is going to be insidious in onset. Producing such an interesting anecdote on Gout Joint took a lot of time and hard work. So it would be enhancing to us to learn that you have made good use of this hard work!

Allopurinol Side Effects - a New Gout Drug. Febuxostat Wins Marketing Approval in the European Union
Has taken a very long time for a major new gout foods to relieve gout and approved. Probably the best gout news in over 40 years, is that Febuxostat, which has been given the trade/brand name of Adenuric, has been approved by the European Medicines Agency for marketing in European Union (EU) countries.

Approval in one country does not mean approval in another, but the fact that the European Medicines Agency has approved it will carry weight when the medical authorities in other countries consider its approval. ;)

  • Tophi If you have tophi, it's heartening to know that Febuxostat has been shown to have success against tophi.
  • Measured tophi areas reduced in many patients with tophi.
  • The presence of tophi will be an additional factor in favour of a decision to prescribe Febuxostat (Adenuric).
  • We did not write too elaborate an article on Gout Pain as it would be then difficult for the common man to read it.
  • We have written this article in such a way that everyone will be able to read and understand it!
IT'S NOT PERFECT         In trials its success rate in reducing UA levels down to the important  0 mg/dL (357 mmol/mol) level was not 100%. About 35% of trial patients did not achieve the target. This may have been partly because so many gout sufferers are not UA over-producers, the problem Febuxostat addresses, but under-excretors of uric acid.

  • You have severe kidney or liver problems Febuxostat is not recommended since it has not been tested in these patient groups.
  • It is not recommended for people with heart disease or children.
  • Reading all this about Gout Treatments is sure to help you get a better understanding of Gout Treatments.
  • So make full use of the information we have provided here.
You will not need to be on a low purine diet, and more good news is that it can be prescribed for the elderly.        Kidney and liver disease In trials it has performed quite well with patients who have mild kidney disease.  44% of patients achieved the target at an 80 mg dosage, more at higher dosages. Better results than Allopurinol. If you have mild kidney disease (renal impairment) or mild liver problems (hepatic impairment) your doctor will judge whether Adenuric/Febuxostat can be taken safely. :D.

  • And it may cause side effects of course.
  • See the bottom of this article.
  • Febuxostat (Adenuric) is not unfortunately a treatment for gout pain.
  • It won't be used instead of NSAIDS like Indomethacin, Colchicine, and corticosteroids.
  • At 120 mg it has reduced UA levels to the target of 6.0 mg/dL in over 60% of study patients.
  • At 80 mg the numbers were around 51%.
  • Allopurinol at a 300 mg dosage in most participants achieved this is 22% of study patients.
  • Hence the excited buzz in rheumatology circles since these kinds of results became apparent in its trials.
  • At or below 6.0 mg/dL gout is more likely to be cured or managed better.
  • We find great potential in Gout Drug.
  • This is the reason we have used this opportunity to let you learn the potential that lies in Gout Drug.
Generally, Febuxostat Has Been More Effective When UA Levels are Below
0 mg/dL (595 mmol/mol). However, even if they have been above this level, it has reduced UA levels down to the target in about 40% of study patients at an 80 mg dosage, and by more at higher dosages.

BENEFITS         In large trials Febuxostat (Adenuric) has outperformed Allopurinol, the most common gout medication for long term treatment. Like Allopurinol, it works to lower uric acid production by inhibiting xanthine oxidase, an enzyme required to produce uric acid. In two major studies it reduced uric acid (UA) in more gout sufferers, and more patients reached the target  0 mg/dL level more quickly, than did those on Allopurinol.

Quote
Will also only be used in gout patients who have chronic hyperuricemia (high UA levels) and gout.        So if you're a gout sufferer who lives in a European country that's a member of the EU, you can ask your doctor's opinion about whether Febuxostat is suitable for you. Thinking of what to do upon reading this article on Uric Acid Production? Well you can very well use the information constructively by imparting it to others.

Noted possible side effects dizziness, drowsiness, diarrhoea, rashes, headaches, hypertension and liver function abnormalities - considered mild ones. In trials none of these side effects were reported in more than 3.5% of trial patients. The most common were liver function abnormalities. Self-praise is no praise. So we don't want to praise ourselves on the effort put in writing on Gout Sufferers. instead, we would like to hear your praise after reading it!

This Approval Applies Only to EU Countries
Febuxostat has not yet been approved in the United States. If you are reading this from a non-EU country, or the US, you can check with your doctor to find out whether, or when, Febuxostat will be approved in your country. Responsibility is what makes a person. So we felt it our responsibility to elaborate more on Gout so that not only us, but everyone knew more about it!

NB. The contents of this article contain medical information not medical advice. Please always discuss remedies with your doctor or other health care professional, before implementing any treatment.

Your Uric Acid Levels Will Have to be High
If you have gout but normal or slightly raised uric acid levels as some do, it is unlikely to be prescribed. Some of the matter found here that is pertaining to Gout Treatments seems to be quite obvious. You may be surprised how come you never knew about it before!

  • WHO WILL BE PRESCRIBED IT?        The recommended dose is one 80 mg daily tablet.
  • If after two weeks there is no reduction in UA levels, your doctor may increase the dose to 120 mg daily.
  • Patients will need another serum UA test after two weeks treatment to find out how well it's doing.
  • In trials it has usually worked quickly, within a couple of weeks.
  • Failure is the stepping stone to success.
  • So if you do fail to understand this article on Uric Acid Levels Gout, don't fret.
  • Read it again a few times, and you are sure to finally get its meaning. :o
"Ouch" It's Midnight and You are Awakened by a Horrific Pain Shooting Through Your Big Toe
The throbbing toe is red and swollen and feels as if it's on fire.  If you or a loved one can relate to this experience, chances are likely that you suffer from gout.  Numerous questions plagued your mind like "Can I survive another night with this pain?"....so we narrowed down your most important questions on gout and answered them!  What is gout? What are the symptoms of gout? What causes gout?  Am I at risk for gout? Is there a natural treatment for gout?  Keep reading to begin the road to recovery! And guess what, it's only 2 hours away!

But Why Do I Suffer?
The Cause of Gout   To answer what causes gout? We need to understand how uric acid appears in the body.  You see, uric acid is actually a byproduct of a very necessary part of your body's normal function.  However, gout sufferers often have higher levels of uric acid (called hyperuricemia) caused from the body's inability to break down the uric acid.  The uric acid is typically eliminated from the body through the urine. If, however, you suffer from gout, the build up of uric acid crystals can find their way to joint spaces where they will cause painful inflammation that appear as lumps under the skin and can even disrupt the functioning of the kidney and cause the definition of kidney stones stones.  Gout can cause serious damage quickly, it is extremely important that you treat your gout immediately. You may say that we have included exquisite information here on Gout Uric. This is with the intention of producing a unique article on Gout Uric.

Overweight: People who weigh 30 pounds or more than their model weight risk getting gout simply because there is more tissue available for breaking down the uric acid.  Diets rich in purine food can also increase your chances for gout.  For more information, please check out our report at our link below. This is the counterpart to our previous paragraph on Uric Acid. Please read that paragraph to get a better understanding to this paragraph.

  • "Hi, I recently tried your natural remedy for a reoccurring gout episode.
    • I started the remedy on Friday night and by early Saturday my gout symptoms were completely gone!
    • Incredible!
    • I plan to continue with your suggestions"[/b]
Who's at risk for Gout?   Why could you be suffering from the horrific pain of gout?  There could be various factors but here is what typically increases uric acid in the blood causing the gout: It was with great optimism that we started out on writing this composition on Gout Natural Treatment. Please don't let us lose this optimism.

Stevens-Johnson Syndrome May be a Side Effect of Gout Medication

    Medical Conditions:

Various medical conditions can also increase your chances of gout.  Do you have any of the following: high blood pressure (hypertension), diabetes, hyperlipidemia (high levels of fat or cholesterol in blood), arteriosclerosis (narrowing of the arteries), recent surgery or bed rest, and recent chemotherapy?

    • Family History: One out of every four people afflicted with gout have a family history with gout.     7.
    • Age and Sex: Men are most often affected with gout as well as women who have reached menopause.
    • Men typically develop gout between the ages of 30 and 50.
    • Patience was exercised in this article on Gout Natural.
    • Without patience, it would not have been possible to write extensively on Gout Natural. ;)
    • Understanding what places you at risk of the disease is an important step in taking control of your health and life.
    • Gout can be naturally treated or be deadly in some cases.
    • So that brings up the question, how do you treat gout naturally?
What is gout?   Simply put, gout is a form of arthritis that often occurs in the middle of the night.  Often labeled the 'disease of kings' gout haunts over 2 million Americans annually.  Gout is also known as the most painful types of arthritis.  Gout results when needle-like crystals of uric acid form in the body's connective tissue or lodge themselves in the space between two bones or joints.  These uric acid crystals inflame the surrounding area and lead to gout's symptoms: Heat, Pain, Redness, Stiffness, Swelling, Arthritis attacks that develop in short time period (e.g., 12-24 hours), and Arthritis Attacks to one joint.  Typical joints affected by gout include: elbows, fingers, heels, instep, and wrists.  To view some photos of gout sufferers please click on our link below.  Unfortunately, this is not all of the symptoms.  Gout can also cause high blood pressure and kidney stones if left untreated.  These symptoms can also be life-threatening if left untreated. We have actually followed a certain pattern while writing on Gout Uric. We have used simple words and sentences to facilitate easy understanding for the reader. :)

Medications:  Are you currently on any of the following medications which may cause gout: diuretics (for hypertension, edema and heart disease), anti-inflammatory medicines with salicylic acid (such as aspirin), niacin (also called nicotinic acid) and a few others.  It is noted, please do not stop taking these medications before talking with your doctor. Penetration into the world of Gout proved to be our idea in this article. Read the article and see if we have succeeded in this or not!

Lifestyle: from Eating to Drinking to Weight, Your Lifestyle
Particularly your diet - can greatly affect your chances of getting gout.   2. Alcohol: More than two drinks a day for men and one drink a day for women - can quickly lead to gout.  Especially, stay away from beer. We consider that we have only touched the perimeter of information available on Uric Acid. There is still a lot more to be learnt!

A Home-Remedy for Gout?   What would you give to cure your gout symptoms in 2 hours?  What would you say if someone guaranteed your gout symptoms would vanish in 2 hours?  No more pain, no more stiffness, no more throbbing!  Baton Publish, a leading natural health company which specializes in home remedies and natural cures, guarantees a natural cure for gout symptoms in less than 2 hours.  This is what one of our readers has to say: Perhaps you may not have been interested in this passage on Arthritis Gout. Allopurinol Hypersensitivity - Gout and Related Symptoms
Gout is a problem that develops after a long period of increase of uric acid crystals in the joints and surroundings tissues. Unwanted symptoms are developed because of gout. These may include warmth, pain, swelling, extreme sensitivity in joints. One of the most seen cases of gout is big toe joint problem, also called podagra. Other symptoms of gout include pain during the night and repeatedly and rapid increase of discomfort lasting for some hours, followed by an easing of the pain in the next days. This pain may last from 2 to 7 days.

Quote
By the time people notice the symptoms of gout attackthe uric acid has surely been building up in their blood and had also deposit in one or more of their joints.

Gout Symptoms May Vary from Case to Case
In some cases gout symptoms may occur after an illness or after a surgery. Cases of people developing rare painful attacks are known but it is also known that people might develop chronic gout even if they do not experience often painful attacks.

The Most Common Affection is the Big Toe Joint Problem
Even is this affection is noticed in most of the cases it is not excluded that other joints of the feet, ankles, knees, wrists, fingers or elbows to be affected too. The completion of this article on Uric Acid Crystals Joints was our prerogative since the past one month. However, we completed it within a matter of fifteen days!

The first phase of gout, nodules, also known as tophi, appear on the hands, elbows or ears but afterwards different symptoms may develop in each case. This can be considered to be a valuable article on Gout. It is because there is so much to learn about Gout here.

As Most of the Health Problems Gout Symptoms are Related to Other Medical Conditions
Other problems with symptoms similar to those of gout are rheumatoid arthritis, osteoarthritis or joints infected with bacteria. Unlike gout rheumatoid arthritis often occurs in hips and shoulders which are usually spared in gout. The symptoms are about the same in osteoarthritis too. An infected joint cause's similar symptom with gout but the treatment involves intravenous antibiotics and hospitalization. ;)

  • Gout is a disease that may lead to purplish skin around the affected joint.
  • It may look as an infected area.
  • Fever is another possible symptom developed because of gout.
  • Another problem surely is the limited mobility of the affected joints.
  • Gout is a form of rheumatism that can also lead to arthritis.
  • It is a very painful medical condition that mostly affects men of all ages.
  • Gout can also be found in women, but mostly those who have reached menopause.
Diagnosing a Gout Case can be Very Difficult Sometimes
However, there are a few procedures that will help your doctor diagnose gout. Here are some of the medical investigations that you doctor will suggest ti diagnose gout:  - a blood test is maybe the first procedure that has to be made in diagnosing gout; a blood test can measure the urate level that you have in your blood; urate is the main cause of gout; however, a person can still have high urate levels in his/ her blood and still not suffer from gout; when raised levels of urate appear in the blood, this can indicate that you have gout, but this can also be caused by other medical conditions or medication that a person takes; furthermore, a person can have normal levels of urate in his/ her body during a gout attack;  - after a blood test that can give doctors an idea whether you can have gout or not, to be more sure and to be able to diagnose a gout case, doctors will examine the fluid that is found in your joints; this fluid can be extracted from your joints with the help of a needle; this can show you if indeed you suffer from gout or not; the fluid is then looked at under a microscope and if there are urate crystals( they indicate gout) , then they will be spotted right away; if indeed these crystals of urate are found in your joints, then, the blood test was right and you actually suffer from gout; this examination is not at all painful and it is very useful if your gout case starts very unusual; for example, a gout case can sometimes be mistaken for another rheumatic disease, like rheumatoid arthritis and gout can mimic this diseases very well;   - another investigation that can be made to diagnose a gout case is x- ray; x- rays of your joints can betaken to see whether you suffer from gout or not, but unfortunately in most of the cases, everything will appear normal and your doctor will not be able to tell if you have gout or not;

According to researchers at Johns Hopkins, "There's no denying that there is a strong connection between what you eat and how you feel, and the difference is likely to become more and more apparent the older you get." (Johns Hopkins Health 2000, www.intelihealth.org)

Although denied by the medical profession for the last three decades, diet does influence your pain... Prior to the denial phase of medicine it was and in some circles still a known factor that certain foods and drinks trigger certain problems. For instance, Joint problems have been found to be exacerbated by the use of alcohol, liver and other organ meats. The most famous joint problem recognized is "Gout," even though the pharmaceutical companies have tried to convince the world this is not true, it certainly is and gout suffers who have had direct results of those foods will tell you... Chemicals concocted by the pharmaceutical industry does help with a few cases but the digestive system is suffering the affects as well as the liver and kidneys which have to filter out the foreign matter in the body! As we get older our digestive system does not work as fast nor as thorough as it needs to and therefore medications can create as many or more problems than they help! We have written a humorous anecdote on Gout to make it's reading more enjoyable and interesting to you. This way you learn there is a funny side good gout forum!

Gout Symptoms

Doctors also targeted allergies or intolerance for dairy products, preservatives found in a wide variety of foods and drugs along with members of the nightshade family as possible culprits for joint problems. In addition, eating or drinking anything tainted with Salmonella or other bacteria has been shown to provoke the immune system to attack the joints, a condition known as "Reiter's syndrome." It was at the spur of the moment that we ventured to write something about Gout. Such is the amount of matter that is available on Gout.

Diet to Promote Joint Comfort from Johns Hopkins Health 2000
* BREAKFAST: One piece or serving of fresh fruit; one slice of bread or bowl of cereal; one protein, such as an egg or a cup of yogurt. We were furnished with so many points to include while writing about Gout that we were actually lost as to which to use and which to discard!

Stunning breakthroughs in medical research demonstrate that you can literally feed your aching bones and joints exactly what they need to move more freely and with less discomfort. Taking certain nutrients to eliminate discomfort, rebuilding deteriorating join structures, and restore freedom of movement is rapidly moving into mainstream medical consciousness. Long overdue but still not fast enough... In fact the doctors at Johns Hopkins have developed a "bone/joint diet? That they believe can help alleviate the burden of stiff, inflamed joints. (Diet to follow) The results of one reading this composition is a good understanding on the topic of Gout. So do go ahead and read this to learn more about Gout.

AFTERNOON SNACK: One fruit or raw vegetable; one serving of bread; a glass of low-fat milk or a cup of low-fat yogurt.   * DINNER: A four-ounce serving of protein, such as fish, tofu, chicken, beans, turkey or beef; one carbohydrate, such as a baked potato, rice, bread or pasta; one cup of steamed vegetables (avoid starches like peas or corn); a fresh salad with low-fat dressing. Writing an article on Gout was our foremost priority while thinking of a topic to write on. This is because Gout are interesting parts of our lives, and are needed by us.

  • EVENING SNACK: A fruit with one graham cracker square, one low-fat cookie, or a half cup of sorbet or low-fat frozen yogurt.
  • Combining a healthful diet and stress reduction, pain can all but be eliminated in most instances...
The Johns Hopkins researchers say that you should experiment with different foods to ascertain which ones will help you and which ones will cause you pain. With over 100 different kinds of bone/joint problems classified under the heading of "arthritis" it is easy to understand why experimenting with different foods must be left up to you. Also as explained by the Johns Hopkins papers, "The more pressure and weight on your joints, the more they will hurt. Even and extra 10 pounds stresses the joints." A desirable reason to lose weight of plagued with joint/bone problems! Sometimes, what we hear about Gout can prove to be rather hilarious and illogical. This is why we have introduced this side of Gout to you. ;)

Gout is Not a Very Common Disease and It Does Not Affect Anyone
However, there are some factors of risk when it comes to gout.        Here are some of the most important risk factors in gout cases:  Genetics  - studies have shown that almost one of four people who suffer from gout have family history of this medical condition; this is to say that more than fifteen percent of all gout patients, have gout in their family history;

Gender  - gender is another risk factor in gout cases, unfortunately one that we have no control over; men are more at risk of developing gout than women are; men who are over twenty years old can develop gout; however, studies have shown that most men had their first gout attack somewhere between the age of thirty five to forty; there are no known case of men who have suffered from a gout attack in their twenties; if you thought that men are the only one who can suffer form gout, then you were wrong; even if this disease is mostly found in men, women can also suffer from gout; after menopause, the level of uric acid rises in women and they can develop gout; however, women mostly have their first gout symptoms around the age of fifty, whereas men can develop them as early as in their thirty' s;

Alcohol  - another risk factor when it comes to gout is alcohol, mostly the abuse of alcohol; alcohol increases the uric acid level that is responsible for gout; alcohol abuse is mostly related with younger gout patients;

Age  - age is another risk factor associated with got; gout is mostly seen in men who have reached middle age; the peak point of gout is the age of forty; gout is mostly linked with high pressure of blood, obesity, high cholesterol levels and use of alcohol; if older people are affected by gout, then gender does not count; both older men and women can be affected by gout; children are not affected by gout; ;)

Obesity  - obesity is also a friend of gout; your body weight and the levels of uric acid are highly linked together; obesity is mostly a gout risk factor in men and less in women; if a child is obese then the risk of developing gout when he grows up is increased; It is not necessary that only the learned can write about Gout Alcohol. As long as one ahs a flair for writing, and an interest for gaining information on Gout Alcohol, anyone can write about it.

Low Purine Foods Proteins - Could that Pain Possibly be Gout
It's not unusual for anyone to experience joint pain at any time in their life; overexerting yourself when physically active, not warming up properly before workout routines, and being overweight by even a few pounds can put undue stress on your joints and lead to discomfort or even pain. There is some persistent joint paint however that should be given extra consideration, as it may be a serious arthritic condition called gout. What is this disease, what causes it, and what can you do to fix it?

There are many causes of gout, from genetics to a previous injury of the affected area that has left it vulnerable to the disease. Diet is also a common factor; those who eat foods high in sodium or salt content are more prone to this condition, as sodium helps to form these uric acid crystals. Many who are diagnosed with this condition are counseled to change their diet immediately and cut out all processed and pre-packaged foods, as these are typically very high in sodium content. While some have previously felt that certain ethnic groups were predisposed to gout, it is now believed that their diet has no doubt played a much larger part in this than just genetics. Also, if the body's kidneys are not functioning properly, this means that the system is not dumping the uric acid the way it is supposed to be, causing it to back up into the bloodstream and form these crystals. We have not actually resorted to roundabout means of getting our message on Gout Sufferers through to you. All the matter here is genuine and to the point.

  • You have painful spots on any of your joints at all, you would do well to speak to your doctor immediately.
  • Gout can be treated effectively with changes in your diet, medication, and other means.
  • There is no reason that you need to suffer with the pain and discomfort.
  • Why cherries seem to help the gout patient, no one seems to know and none of the big foundations are trying to find out.
  • Grant money is available for drug research but not for food research.
  • Cherries have been show to relieve the pain of gout sufferers.
  • Cherries contain calcium phosphorus, Vitamin A, thiamin, riboflavin, niacin and Vitamin C.
  • Why not give Cherries or Cherry juice as a treatment for your gout pain.
  • It is certainly a more pleasant treatment without the undesirable side effect of drug therapy.
Gout is a disease in which there is a buildup of uric acid, formed into crystals, which get deposited in the cartilage of joints or tendons, and even surrounding tissue. This causes these areas of the body to become inflamed and swollen, as with other forms of arthritis. While gout can really occur in any joint of the body, it usually attacks the big toe first, followed by the ankle, heel, knee, wrist, elbows, and even the spine. It may seem even a bit laughable to think of an inflammation of the big toe as something that needs to be taken seriously, but in reality gout is a very painful disease. It is usually accompanied by a burning sensation, swelling, stiffness, and a warmness of the affected area. Typically the patient also has a low-grade fever that lasts longer than it should. Many who suffer from gout even in its most minor form find that any contact of the affected area, such as with an article of clothing, can be excruciating. With people wanting to learn more about Arthritis Gout, it has provided the necessary incentive for us to write this interesting article on Arthritis Gout!

  • You probably already know gout is caused by high levels of uric acid in the blood.
  • However, did you know that four stages of gout exist and each stage has very unique characteristics of this painful infliction?
  • For example one fruit that has a proven track record in fighting gout pain is the tart cherry.
  • Tart cherries have been proven by medical research universities to help fight gout pain.
  • The benefit of the tart cherry is this little fruit is available is a variety of options including tart cherry juice and tart cherry capsules.
  • Here is a brief overview of the different ways to fight gout with tart cherries:
Quote
Here is a brief list of foods that are high in purines and should be avoided since high purine food contributes to the gout. These foods include alcohol, seafood, beans, scallops, and sweetbread. It is only because that we are rather fluent on the subject of Gouty Arthritis that we have ventured on writing something so influential on Gouty Arthritis like this!

Stage #1: Higher Levels of Uric Acid Begin to Form
This first stage is called Asymptomatic Hyperuricemia. In this stage, you will probably not feel any symptoms. Catching the gout at this stage is vital so you don't experience the pain of the gout. Although there was a lot of fluctuation in the writing styles of we independent writers, we have come up with an end product on Chronic Gout worth reading!

Stage #4: this is the Final Stage of Gout and It is Called Chronic Gout
This stage can cause permanent damage to the joints and kidney, too.      Eating Right Can Stop the Gout. It is only through sheer determination that we were able to complete this composition on Uric Acid Crystals. Determination, and regular time table for writing helps in writing essays, reports and articles.

You don't want to take medication, due to possible and serious side effects, you have another alternative that can be better then medication - eating the right food. When a child shows a flicker of understanding when talking about Chronic Gout, we feel that the objective of the meaning of Chronic Gout being spread, being achieved.

Tart Cherry Capsules are Made With Tart Cherry Powder
The tart cherry powder is made using the freeze-dried process. The freeze dried process uses low heat and low temperature, thus maintaining 100% of the phytochemicals of the tart cherry. A good source of tart cherry capsules is Fruit Advantage ***** We have to be very flexible when talking to children about Purine. They seem to interpret things in a different way from the way we see things!

Stage #2: the Gout Starts to Harm the Body
This second stage is called acute gouty arthritis or acute gout. This is the stage that jagged crystal-like formations begin to deposit themselves in joint spaces. This is also the stage when redness, pain and swelling occurs.

  • Cherry juice concentrate is a highly concentrate way to get the pain relieving property of the tart cherry.
  • It takes approximately 100 cherries to make just one ounce of tart cherry juice.
  • A reliable source for tart cherry juice concentrate is Traverse Bay Farms *****  Stage #3: This stage is Intercritical gout.
  • This is when an gout attack has subsided.
  • This is the stage the body begins to stabilize itself and fights the uric acid crystals in the joints.
  • Getting treatment is vital at this stage if the individual wants to control the gout.

Gout is characterized by an overload of uric acid in the body and recurring attacks of inflammation (arthritis). The chronic gout can lead to hard nodule deposits of uric acid in and around the joints, decreased renal function and kidney stones. Gout affects about 1 in 100 people and less than 6 to 7 per cent of older men. Men are more likely to find that women are the drop, but women are becoming more sensitive to the drop after menopause.

Injury to the Joint
-Exposure to lead  -Diet.  Foods that contain large amounts of purine include red meat, creamy sauces, scallops, anchovies, beans, liver and heavy creamy sauces.    -Medication.  Aspirin, levodopa and several other medicines can interfere with the kidneys ability to remove uric acid from the body.  -Excess body weight.

Uric Acid is Filtered Out of the Body by the Kidneys
It is then excreted in urine.  When too much uric acid is produced by the liver, the kidneys are not able to remove it all, and it builds up in the blood stream.  This build up of uric acid in the blood stream is known as hyperuricemia.  Over time the uric acid crystallizes and ends up settling in joint spaces.  White blood cells eventually mistake the crystals as a foreign invader to the body, and gather into the joints as well to attack the crystals.  This causes inflammation, ie:  swelling, redness, and the typical gout pain. We found it rather unbelievable to find out that there is so much to learn on Gout Pain! Wonder if you could believe it after going through it! :D.

What is the Meaning of Gout - How can Gout be Treated?
Gout is a problem that in most of the cases occurs suddenly. That is why it is really hard to prevent it. Doctors can only advice for a low alcohol intake and a healthy diet. Only after its occurrence specialists are able to prescribe a treatment. Treatment for gout is prescribed in order to ease the symptoms that usually consist of extreme pain in the affected joints.

Quote
  • The third way of treating gout is the use of corticosteroids such as prednisone, prednisolone and triamcinolone.
  • This treatment is prescribed for patients that can not take NSAIDs or colchine, being the third alternative in treating gout.
  • This treatment has benefic effects after steroids are injected into the joint muscle.
  • Afterwards pain is locally relieved.

Gout Info is the substance of this composition. Without Gout Info, there would not have been much to write and think about over here!

Tophus - Définition - C'est Quoi ?

Colchine is the Alternative for Nsaids
This medicine has been used to treat gout for years. It has benefic effects on reducing and even eliminating the pain caused by gout. Even so this treatment is not recommended for persons who can not tolerate side effects such as diarrhea, nausea, vomiting or abdominal cramps. Colchine is a treatment with benefic effects because it reduces the deposit of uric acid crystals that cause inflammations. An intake of colchine within 24 to 48 hours of the onset of the gout symptoms is believed to have the awaited effect.

In addition to what we had mentioned in the previous paragraph, much more has to be said about Treat Gout. If space permits, we will state everything about it.

  • Gout is a painful inflammation of joints caused by accumulation of uric acid crystals.
  • Uric acid is a normal chemical formed by the breakdown of purines, which in turn are an important component of the human body.
  • Many foods contain purines especially seafood and meat.
Unless a patient has a family history or is taking medication that foods that cause gout such as some diuretics it may be hard to predict who will get gout. The treatment, however, is often very successful.  Once an attack occurs future attacks can be prevented by use of allopurinol, colchicines and other medications. Patients who have had an organ transplant are often on medications that can cause gout.

Is Important to Prevent Attacks
If left untreated repeated attacks can cause permanent joint damage and cause deformities of other parts by formation of 'tophi' which are lumps in the skin. Even if the acute attack is over medications must be continued to prevent the next attack. The more you read about Prevent Gout, the more you get to understand what is the meaning of gout it.
